Constructed in 1904, the Millwood Apartments at 36 E Milwaukee Avenue in Detroit's Milwaukee Junction Neighborhood maintains its original residential function while undergoing significant preservation efforts. Preservation Forward successfully completed the National Register of Historic Places nomination process for the building, producing comprehensive documentation that included historical narrative, architectural descriptions, statement of significance, and required technical elements. After presenting the nomination to the State Historic Preservation Review Board, the Millwood Apartments achieved National Register listing in 2024. Currently, Preservation Forward serves as the historic preservation specialist for the property's rehabilitation, working closely with owners, government partners, architects, and tradespeople while providing both technical guidance and financial incentive expertise. The ongoing revitalization project will create thirty updated residential units while preserving the building's historic character.
